Well, the time has come to sound the trumpets. We at Baconfest Chicago are thrilled to announce the Date and Venue for our 4th annual celebration of all things Bacon!
Baconfest Chicago 2012 will be held on Saturday April 14th at the UIC Forum. Save the date!
The exact times and chef line-up will be announced in early 2012 – but rest assured, we expect most of our spectacular vets to return as well as a myriad of awesome new participants. For last years roster, see Chefs 2011. To see last years menu, see Menu 2011.
Like last year, we will be doing a holiday early-bird VIP offer where we will release a limited number of VIP tickets available for purchase in early December in time to be gifts for your bacon-crazed family and friends.
General admission tickets will go on sale in February of 2012.
If you are not yet on our mailing list, FIX THAT as that is where the VIP ticket offer and any other early-action offers will be announced first. Also, make sure to fan us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/baconfest, and follow us on twitter @baconfestchi.
Sponsors, vendors and chefs – now is a good time to get in touch if you’d like to be a part of next year’s event! Drop us a line to make sure that we’ve got you on our radar.
What is Baconfest Chicago like? Take a look at a short feature on last April’s Baconfest Chicago 2011 that’s been airing on the Food Network this fall: Food Network Feature. And of course enjoy The Chicago Reader’s incredible promo video: The Bacon-Noir. We still think it’s one of the great works of art of the viral-video age. Additionally, more press on 2011 can be found here.
And finally, we know that April 14th 2012 is a LONG way off. We at Baconfest can’t stand the thought of not breaking bacon with at least some of you until then. So, if you haven’t already heard, we are hosting 4 Satellite Dinners at specific restaurants November through January.
Seating at these dinners is EXTREMELY limited, so get moving on those reservations asap.
Some one asked us recently if we felt like the bacon fad was finally in decline. Our answer is simple: Bacon was not, is not and never will be a “fad”. Will oxygen ever go out of style? Likewise Love? We say NEVER!
Happy Halloween friends. We hope to see you soon!

P.S. And remember, it’s not all just about Bacon-Bacchanalia (though that is a huge selling point). Baconfest Chicago will (for the third straight year) work with the Greater Chicago Food Depository in support of their mission to end hunger in our community. Word.
