About Bang Bang Pie Shop:
If ever there was a team to start a pie shop it’s the Bang Bang Crew.
What kind of person randomly leaves the world of high-profile restaurant criticism and fancy foods behind, to pursue his dream own owning a pie shop? What kind of person joins a crazy husband and wife duo known for driving around the streets of Chicago selling pie and coffee from a big red truck emblazoned with circus animals and named Bang Bang?
Michael is your guy. The guy with the black glasses, gingham shirts, and perfectly worn jeans. You’d think he was born for this. From writing at Mobil Travel Guide, and Union Square Hospitality Group to working in restaurants like Tru and Gramercy Tavern, Michael adds the perfect balance of design and front of the house experience to the Bang Bang Pie Shop. Sorry ladies- he’s taken.
Now to the crazy wife and husband duo…
What kind of newly-married couple without a complete college education quits their jobs, buys a 25ft truck, paints it bright red, and cuts a window into its side- all to sell pie from it? What kind of couple refuses to give in to restrictive city laws when told they can’t sell pie from their truck by going “underground” and accepting suggested prices rather than charging for pie?
Megan and Dave were destined to be together if only for one crazy idea called Bang Bang. The adventurous couple refuses to be stopped. Megan believes pie is the new pie. Her deep held belief came from baking throughout Portland and Chicago. It also came from her great-great grandparents who owned a restaurant/pie shop near Springfield, Illinois before pie was the new anything. Those recipes are some of her most valuable possessions- besides Dave, of course.
Dave’s story began less with pie and more with coffee. His coffee experience ranges from sneaking out of Sunday school to drink coffee as a kid to relaunching and formerly owning a successful coffee shop and roastery- Ipsento. After leaving there he spent a year learning the secrets of his favorite coffee company- Star Lounge/Dark Matter. He’s now the genius behind house-roasted Bang Bang Coffee and strongly believes that coffee is the new cupcake. He likes sweaters.
The End.
