CAFE MATOU – Charlie Socher

Posted by Baconfest Comments Off

Chef Charlie Socher (Café Matou)
Since 1997, Chef Charlie Socher’s Café Matou has offered a unique combination of French classical method and country French tradition. The menu changes daily to reflect the style of bistros in France and to make use of each season’s offerings to create tempting dishes. A native Chicagoan and former professor of economics at the University of Alaska, Socher moved to Paris in 1981 to pursue culinary apprenticeships before establishing himself among Chicago’s restaurant scene as a local favorite. Café Matou, which means “tom-cat” in French, occupies two storefronts, servicing patrons in the full-service bar or the tastefully adorned dining room.
