Cecily Albertelli - bacon-apple cider cupcakes
Dish Description: Was your favorite meal growing up the classic
midwestern treat pork chops and apple sauce? Well if it was, imagine
it for dessert!! I present to you bacon-apple cider cupcakes! This
delicious treat begins with an apple cider cake studded with
brown-sugar baked bacon crumbles. The cake also has an apple compote
filling that includes apples sauteed in bacon drippings and pieces of
crispy, salty bacon. The entire cake is topped with brown sugar
butter cream and brown-sugar baked bacon “sprinkles”. The resulting
cupcake is sweet and salty and really really bad for you! (I
apologize for my lack of picture but this deadline snuck up on me!)
Ingrediants:
eggs, bacon, apple cider, butter, dark brown sugar, granny smith
apples, cornstarch, flour, baking soda, baking powder, white sugar,
orange zest.

No picture is needed — the description is so drool-inducing that I can visualize the deliciousness. Yum-O!

Just the breakfast I need before an ironman.
In the early 19th century, there were two different uses for the name cup cake or cupcake. In previous centuries, before muffin tins were widely available, the cakes were often baked in individual pottery cups, ramekins, or molds and took their name from the cups they were baked in. This is the use of the name that has remained, and the name of “cupcake” is now given to any small cake that is about the size of a teacup.;`
