We take our inspiration from the 18th century tavern — a meeting place for poets, artists, government officials and the common man. Brought in from sailing routes throughout the world with fare from Spain, Portugal, Germany, and the West Indies, the food at local taverns was as unique as the patrons. Our chef has created a menu that takes a modern spin on some classic tavern recipes with an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients.
Our goal at City Tavern is to provide a fresh take on the taverns of old and to provide a warm, comfortable and friendly environment where the entire community can gather.
Chef John Caputo
Chef John Caputo has over 25 years experience working in a variety of restaurant and hotel capacities. Most recently, John had the role as Executive Chef and Partner at Bin 36 Restaurant Group for over 10 years. Prior to Bin 36, John was Chef de Cuisine for Gary Danko, Executive Chef at his own restaurant, Socca. John also worked in California, as Executive Chef at Ondine, Jordan Winery, Napa Valley Grille and Campton Place Hotel.
