Yesterday, Michael and I had the supreme pleasure of paying a visit to the Greater Chicago Food Depository headquarters to drop off a check for $25,000 in support of the amazing work they do providing food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community. This donation, paired with the funds raised via Raffle ticket sales, T-shirt sales, and the match in donated pork from our premier presenting sponsor the Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) has culminated in raising over 65,000 pounds of food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. To say that Michael, Seth and I are pleased and proud is an understatement. When we first thought up the idea of throwing Baconfest Chicago, our primary objective was to present a Bacon-centered food rave unlike any other in the world. How amazing that this experiment has resulted in such a tremendous fund-raiser for an organization that we and so many fantastic chefs, restaurants, vendors and sponsors care so deeply about.
The success of Baconfest Chicago 2011 would not have been possible with out the contributions of our 56 Partner Restaurants, our intrepid Liquor Sponsors, our roster of Sponsors led by the IPPA and Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats, our first-class volunteer team, and of course YOU Bacon-nation!
To everyone who came together to celebrate Bacon with us on April 9th, Baconfest Chicago and the Greater Chicago Food Depository say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.
