Who loves bacon? You do!

On April 25 & 26, our love for you will manifest itself in the form of Baconfest Chicago – the only place in the universe where Chicago’s greatest restaurants share their bacon genius with you, our beloved bacon community. Our Saturday sessions are sold out, but a few tickets remain for the Friday Dinner session on April 25.  Grab your tickets here.

This year, however, our love for you is so great that Baconfest is not enough. So, this year, we’re declaring that April is Bacon Month.  To back up that declaration, we’ve scheduled a whole month’s worth of bacon activities for you to experience.  Here are the details:

Bacon Month Charity Dine Around

Bacon-lovers can experience Baconfest even if they can’t make it to the event itself all the while supporting the important work of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.  Thirty-one Baconfest restaurants will participate in the Bacon Month Charity Dine Around. Each restaurant will offer Bacon Specials on their menu for the month of April and donate a portion of the sales to the GCFD. Just a few participating restaurants and dishes to whet your appetite:

  • Perennial Virant: Bacon Toast & Eggs: Bacon Bread, Hash browns, Crispy Bacon, Fried Egg
  • Three Aces: Bacon Scrapple with house-made bacon sriracha, sweet potato puree, fried egg, scallions, fried black kale.
  • Edzo’s Burger Shop: Maple-Bacon Milkshake: Vanilla ice cream blended with maple-bacon salted caramel and crispy Nueske bacon bits.

Co-hosted by Acme Hotel Company (the official hotel of Baconfest), this swanky pork soiree will feature three of Chicago’s best mixologists creating bacon-inspired cocktails. Benjamin Schiller of The Berkshire Room, Danny Shapiro of Scofflaw and Annemarie Sagoi from The Dawson will serve guests signature cocktails all evening. With a $30 ticket, guests will receive one of each of the signature drinks, a frosty can of Labatt Blue and a menu of bacon-delights from Berkshire Room executive chef Chris “Chip” Davies and executive pastry chef Chris Teixeira including BLT sliders, BBQ pork sliders, bacon popcorn and chocolate-covered bacon. Acme will provide bacon gift bags for each ticketed guest

Five area Whole Foods Markets will be throwing a free store-wide bacon party on Saturday April 12 from 12 noon to 3:00 PM, including complimentary samples of their natural, organic bacon. Come sample all things bacon, and see how versatile the breakfast meat can be.

Two-time Golden Rasher Award winner Chef Matt Troost from Chicago’s Three Aces will explore inventive and delicious new ways to serve the smoky salty treat. Join Barn & Co.’s very own Pitmaster, Gary Wiviott as he explains how to get the very most from the bacon you love. The boutique lifestyle alternative hotel in River North is proving their passion for pork with a whole month dedicated to the savory treat in honor of Baconfest. Every Thursday in April at 7:00 PM the hotel will host Kevin Bacon Movie Nights.  On Wednesdays from April 2 to April 23, guests can book a $20 manicure to receive bacon nail art from a certified nail artist.  On April 8 at 7:00 PM, the hotel will host a free bacon cocktail demo from Benjamin Schiller at The Berkshire Room.  ACME will also fully deck out the hotel in bacon décor and offer a room package that includes two shiny tickets to Baconfest.  Packages can be booked at the ACME Hotel Company website.
